Marcus Rashford scored both goals for Manchester United as they beat Liverpool 2-1 on Saturday.

In the 14th minute, Romelu Lukaku flicked a header to Rashford who cut inside and blasted a shot into the far corner that left no chance for Loris Karius.

Rashford showed Jose Mourinho just why he deserved his first Premier League start of the year. Just ten minutes later, the 20-year-old Englishman pounced on a loose ball to give United a 2-0 lead.

"I say perfect in relation to, to what the game gave us and in the first half the game gave us the opportunity to be aggressive and direct and fast and intense and to score goals. Probably more, probably a third Mata goal would be amazing and fantastic. The second half gave us a different match and we adapted to it," Man United manager Jose Mourinho said.

Liverpool got one back after the break as Sadio Mane's cross was awkwardly turned in by Eric Bailly for an own goal. A win for United moved them five points clear of the Reds in the table.
