Heavy rains struck several areas along the south region of Yangtze River in China.
This round of rainfall has been pummeling southern China since June 22. Areas in Anhui, Hunan, Zhejiang and Guizhou provinces are affected, as well as at least 3.5 million people.

In eastern and southern Hunan, the rainstorms brought over 150 mm of rainfall in some areas in just one day, destroying more than 2,100 houses and forcing the evacuation of 163,000 people. Nearly 120 hectares of crops were damaged.
More than 57,000 people were evacuated in Guizhou, 12,000 houses were destroyed and 560 hectares of crops were damaged. The direct economic losses are about 1.3 billion yuan (about 190 million US dollars).
In Anhui, torrential rain caused at least one death. More than 700 houses were destroyed and 25.8 hectares of crops were affected.

In Zhejiang, the intense fall forced the evacuation of about 150,000 people, causing direct economic losses estimated at one billion yuan (about 150 million US dollars). Over 40 reservoirs overflowed.
Heavy rain to rainstorm will sustain for the next few days. The National Meteorological Center continued to release yellow warning of rainstorm at 6:00 am on June 27. It is estimated that areas in north-central Guangxi, northern Guangdong, southern Guizhou, and eastern Yunnan will face torrential rain through Tuesday to Wednesday.
The rain band is expected to move northward on Thursday.
