Myanmar is striving for accountable governance of ASEAN Community and anti-corruption, taking initiatives to establish a related framework in the aspect, the semi-official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Wednesday.

Addressing an ongoing meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on the framework to be worked out, Vice President Sai Mauk Kham called on governmental departments and civil society organizations to take into consideration cultural differences and political background in developing the framework.

Challenges are likely to arise in establishing a single economic community, he said, pointing out the need to draw lessons from the world's economic infrastructure and find ways to overcome them.

He warned that the goals of the ASEAN Economic Community are hard to realize in the absence of the structure and practices of good governance.

Myanmar is rotating ASEAN chair this year.
