Laos offers donations to assist China in fighting novel coronavirus outbreak

Laos on Friday donated 400,000 U.S. dollars in cash and 100,000 U.S. dollars worth of medical supplies to China to help the latter fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Visiting Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith attended the ceremony of handing over the donations here.

Entrusted by the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and the Lao government, the Laos-China Friendship Association organized the activity to solicit contributions and received warm response from the Lao people.

At the ceremony, Thongloun, Wang and Lao Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith stood side by side and chanted "Stay strong, Wuhan!" "Stay strong, China!"

The Lao prime minister said the donations, though not so high in monetary terms, demonstrated the true brotherhood people in Laos cherish for the Chinese people. He believed that China could soon win the fight against the epidemic.
