Veteran Bollywood actor Farooq Sheikh has passed away following an heart attack in Dubai, at the age of 65, his colleague said.
Sheikh died following a massive heart attack in Dubai where he was holidaying with his wife and two daughters late Friday night.
"He was immediately rushed to a local hospital but collapsed of a cardiac arrest though doctors tried their best to revive him," his colleague Shabana Azmi told the media in the national capital.
His body will be brought to Mumbai after completion of all formalities.
A theater personality, Sheikh started his career in Bollywood in 1973 and soon gained fame for his role in films like Garam Hawa (1973), Shatranj Ke Khiladi (Chess Players) (1977), and Chashme Buddoor (1981). He had worked with Azmi as his female co-star in many of his super hit films.
"He was a very fine actor and a very dear friend. His death is a big loss," Azmi said.
Actor Om Puri also expressed grief over his death. "It is a very tragic and shocking news. He was a very pleasant and non controversial personality," he said.
