Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi announced on Sunday that the country has rejected an Indian request for use of airspace for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his visit to Saudi Arabia, a statement said.

The airspace permission was sought to use Pakistan’s airspace on October 28 for Modi who will be visiting Saudi Arabia for an international business conference in the Saudi capital of Riyadh.

The statement said that the decision was taken in view of the continued gross human rights violations in Indian-controlled Kashmir.

Islamabad has informed the Indian High Commissioner about the decision in writing.

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan is also scheduled to leave for Saudi Arabia on October 28 to feature in the same conference.

Earlier in September, Pakistan has also denied India's request for Modi to use Pakistani airspace for his flight to Germany.

“Keeping in view the situation in Kashmir and India’s attitude witnessed in the tyranny and oppression (suffered by Kashmiris) and violations of rights in the region, we have decided not to grant this request,” said the foreign ministers.
