Pakistani athletes to participate in Commonwealth Games in Australia

**ISLAMABAD, Feb. 20 (APD) - **Pakistani athletes will feature in 10 competitions of the 21st Commonwealth Games also known as Gold Coast 2018 in Australia later this year, an official said on Tuesday.

Director Media of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Muhammad Azam Dar said that Pakistan will send its 58 players and 22 officials for the games to be commenced in Queensland, Australia from April 5 to 15.

Pakistani athletes will feature in 10 competitions, including athletics, badminton, boxing, field hockey, shooting, squash, swimming, table tennis, weightlifting and wrestling, the director.

It is the fifth time when Australia is going to host the event. According to the official website of the mega event, at least 70 teams will feature in the games.

Pakistan has so far won 69 medals in 12 of the 20 previous games.

The official announced that training camps for the preparation of the games are going on the country’s capital Islamabad.

The official said that they are giving all facilities to the players for training and preparing and hoped that the players would definitely win honors for the country.
