Seychelles president meets St Vincent and the Grenadines PM

Seychellois President Danny Faure on Saturday met with the Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines, H.E. Dr Hon Ralph Gonsalves, in the capital Victoria.

PM Gonsalves visited Seychelles as the Guest of Honour in the island’s National Day ceremony which is taking place today.

During his two-day visit, PM Gonsalves also held bilateral talks with President Faure and other high-level government delegates, focusing on various areas including the blue economy, tourism, environment, and fisheries among others.

In a brief meeting on Saturday morning, President Faure extended a warm welcome to Prime Minister Gonsalves to Seychelles and reaffirmed the country’s commitment towards establishing and reinforcing cooperation in a multitude of sectors.

“Our countries may be oceans apart but our hearts and minds are very close in our shared ambitions to strengthen the good foundations laid for the mutual benefits of our people. Seychelles attaches great importance to our relationship with St. Vincent and the Grenadines and we will work to deepen our bond of friendship,” he said.

Seychelles and St. Vincent and the Grenadines established diplomatic relations in May 2017.

National Day in Seychelles is observed on 29 June in commemoration of the islands’ independence from the British Empire in 1976.
