All Egyptian nationals returning from abroad will have to be placed under quarantine once they arrive home, Egyptian Migration Ministry said on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Health decided that all Egyptians returning home as of Tuesday will have to sign an acknowledgement statement before boarding planes that they agree to be quarantined upon arrival in Egypt, the ministry said in a statement.

The passengers cannot go onboard unless they sign the acknowledgement, the source said, stressing that this procedure will be applied to all exceptional flights organized by EgyptAir in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Migration.

Egypt, a country with a population of 100 million people, has confirmed 710 COVID-19 cases, including 46 deaths.

Egypt has temporarily suspended schools, universities and all classes, halted flights, closed entertainment places, stopped mass prayers in mosques and churches, and shut down museums and archeological sites nationwide to control the spread of the pandemic.
