EgyptAir, the flag carrier of Egypt, suspended all flights to Saudi Arabia over fears of the spread of the novel coronavirus, a statement by the national airline said on Monday.

The decision will be enforced starting from Monday to all cities of Saudi Arabia, including Damam, Quseum, Abha, Jeddah and Al Madinah Al Munawara until further notice, the statement added.

The decision comes in accordance with the Saudi decision to suspend flights from nine countries, including Egypt, the statement said.

Earlier, Saudi Arabia banned its citizens and residents to travel to nine countries as precautionary measures against the novel coronavirus.

The countries are the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Lebanon, Syria, South Korea, Egypt, Italy, and Iraq.

Egypt announced on Monday that seven new cases were tested positive for COVID-19 inside Egypt, including an Egyptian came from Saudi Arabia after performing the Ummrah, making the total number of confirmed cases to 55.
