SMU collaborates to build community of life-long learning

A number of centers and institutes are developed by Singapore Management University to link schools to the business community and public and promote a life-long learning, Vice President of the Business Development and External Relations Office of SMU said in her new year greetings.

Annie Koh took office of the Vice President, Business Development and External Relations at the time of its establishment in July 2012. The office was founded to extend opportunities for SMU to partner with industry associations, government agencies, corporate and other universities within and outside Singapore, in order to offer multi-disciplinary value propositions, Koh introduced.

Center for Professional Studies, Financial Training Institute, International Trading Center and Business Families Institute are nurtured under this office. They provide learning opportunities for working professionals in the fields of management, banking and financial services, trading and business family education.

The office also governs the China desk, which links various schools, centers, institutes at SMU, and connects the universities in China keen to collaborate with the university.

Koh said, SMU is creating impactful programs with inter-disciplinary collaborations to promote its reputation. By doing this, she said, SMU would be “a university that makes a difference in the management of business, government and society.

Founded in 2000, SMU is Singapore’s first private university funded by the government. The university distinguishes itself in the region through its emphasis on a holistic undergraduate education with interactive pedagogy. It’s Lee Kong Chian School of Business ranked 52^nd^ in 2012 by The University of Texas at Dallas Top 100 Worldwide Business School Ranking.
