JAKARTA, July 3 (APD) – Indonesia’s South Sumatra province capital of Palembang was scheduled to host international motocross championship of 2019 MXGP from July 5 to 7, participated by at least 60 world-class crossers from 28 countries.

Works to build the dirt tracks for the championship have been accelerated as the whole facilities to host the international event are expected to be ready by Thursday.

“In the last several days, we have been working around the clock to build this track on time,” the MXGP track project supervisor Warsito said on Tuesday, adding that over 100 workers and heavy duty vehicles involved in the project.

The 2019 MXGP track field is built on 5 hectares of area near Palembang’s prominent sport complex of Jakabaring that hosted 2018 Asian Games.

The motocross arena is completed with 1.6 kilometer dirt tracks, engine workshops, spectator tribunes and adequate lighting facilities. The tracks are designed by European motocross consultant Brack, Bilada and Giano Marco.

The championship chief organizer Yudiarto said that two world’s top crossers from RedBull KTM and Honda Garibaldi teams, Antonio Cairoli and Tim Gajser are scheduled to take part in the championship.

“It would be the first for Palembang to host the international motocross event like MXGP. We want to present the event the best as we can so as to leave good impressions among the world’s crossers, spectators and the society,” he said earlier.

The championship event would present MX1 competition for professional crossers and MX2 for amateurs.

Besides the championship, the organizer would also feature freestyle motocross exhibition performed by freestylers from Belgium, South Africa and Canada.
