Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab held a phone conversation on Wednesday, discussing issues related to the coronavirus pandemic, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"The necessity to use the experience of alliance in mobilizing the efforts of the international community to counter modern global challenges was emphasized. Particular attention was paid to the tasks of combating the spread of the new coronavirus infection and overcoming its consequences," it said.
The two sides exchanged congratulations on the upcoming 75th anniversary of the World War II victory and noted the contribution of the anti-Hitler coalition to the fight against Nazism, it added.
According to the statement, some topical issues on the international agenda were also discussed, including the Syrian settlement, the Ukrainian crisis and the work of the UN Security Council.
Lavrov and Raab expressed their determination to solve accumulated problems between Moscow and London in a pragmatic way, and to develop cooperation in areas of mutual interest, according to the ministry.
