Xinjiang reports 5 new confirmed COVID-19 cases

Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region reported five new confirmed COVID-19 cases and eight more asymptomatic cases from Thursday to Friday noon, local health authorities said Friday.

The new confirmed and asymptomatic cases, all in Urumqi, the capital city of Xinjiang, are from those who were earlier under concentrated medical observation, the regional health commission said.

As of Friday noon, Xinjiang had six confirmed COVID-19 cases and 11 asymptomatic cases, all in Urumqi. A total of 135 people are under medical observation.
