China will speed up efforts to develop government information system connectivity and "connect up information islands" in 2018, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said on Monday.

Li made the remarks in his annual government work report to lawmakers during the opening meeting of the first session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, which is held in Beijing from March 5 to 20.

"We will make progress with the Internet Plus Government Services model, enabling more matters to be processed online, and doing our best to see that things requiring presence in person get done in one place and without the need for a second trip," he said.
