China on Korean Tensions

Beijing says it opposes any action that would aggravate tensions on the Korean Peninsula, after Pyongyang told all foreigners to leave South Korea.

China's Foreign Ministry made the remarks after the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on Tuesday told all foreign organizations, companies and tourists in South Korea to evacuate...

As the situation on the Korean Peninsula is, quote, "inching close to a nuclear war".

Beijing has warned that no one should undermine peace and stability on the peninsula... h

China has called on Pyongyang and Seoul to mend their fences by reconciliation and cooperation...

On Monday, Pyongyang announced it was withdrawing all its workers from the Kaesong Industrial Complex, and banned workers and cargo from South Korea from entering.

The Kaesong Industrial Complex is a joint industrial zone in the DPRK's border town of Kaesong and includes 123 South Korean compaines, employing about 54,000 people from the DPRK.

It was launched in late 2004, in the hope of improving cooperation between the two neighors on the peninsula.
