M4.5 earthquake hits Songyuan in NE China's Jilin Province

A shallow 4.5-magnitude earthquake hit Songyuan in Northeast China's Jilin Province at 1158 a.m. local time, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).

This marks the third time that the area has been jolted by an earthquake with a magnitude of over 4.0 within the past month.

According to CENC, the epicenter's depth was about seven kilometers.

Tremors were also felt in Changchun, Jilin's provincial capital, and Harbin in neighboring Heilongjiang Province.

No casualties have been reported so far.
