Police officer among two killed in blast in Pakistan's Peshawar

At least two police personnel, including a high-ranked officer, were killed in a blast in Pakistan's northwest provincial capital of Peshawar, local media reported Friday.

According to the reports, the blast hit a police vehicle near the Tatara Park in the Hayatabad area of Peshawar, the provincial capital of the country's northwest province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Additional Inspector General of Police, Muhammad Ashraf Noor, and his guard lost their lives in the attack.

Police and rescue team rushed to the site and shifted the bodies to a hospital in the city.

The police officer was on the way to his office when he came under the attack.

Nature of the blast is not known yet. However, some reports said it was a suicide attack, but no official has confirmed it.

The vehicle was completely destroyed in the attack. No group has claimed responsibility for it.
