One Egyptian student was killed during clashes between Security forces and Muslim Brotherhood supporters at Cairo University on Thursday, state-run Ahram website reported.
Mohamed Reda, a student at faculty of Engineering, was killed by bird shot while several other students were injured during the clashes.
According to Ahram, clashes erupted when students marched outside the campus and blocked traffic. Riot police used water cannons, tear gas and birdshots to disperse the protest.
Hundreds of student at Cairo University were protesting inside the campus in rejection to the harsh sentences given to 21 Muslim Brotherhood female supporters.
The female supporters were given sentences of up to 11 years each on charges of destruction of public property inciting violence and attacking security during demonstration calling for the reinstatement of the ousted president Mohamed Morsi.
