A Vietnamese top legislator on Monday pledged to use Japanese Official Development Assistance ( ODA) effectively during a reception to a Japanese delegation.
Nguyen Sinh Hung, Chairman of Vietnam's National Assembly, made the remark while receiving Toshihiro Nikai, Chairman of Japan's Lower House Budget Committee in Vietnam's capital Hanoi on Monday.
During the meeting, Hung said Vietnam attaches great importance to the relations with Japan, adding that the country will make its best efforts to further bolster the bilateral cooperation for the sake of the two peoples, as well as for peace and prosperity in the region and the world.
Vietnam and Japan have much potential to gain more achievements in areas of culture, education, healthcare, security and defense, Hung said.
The Japanese guest, for his side, said the two sides should further cooperate to accelerate the negotiations of the Trans- Pacific Partnership.
Japan is willing to boost cooperation with Vietnam in preventing and dealing with issues of natural disasters, Toshihiro Nikai added.
On the same day, Toshihiro Nikai was welcomed by Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang, during which the two sides hailed the implementation of agreements reached by the two countries' leaders.
The Japanese delegation put forward the potential for cooperation in crop and husbandry in localities with similar conditions.
