The 74th edition ofthe Cannes Film Festival opened Tuesday in France with 24 films competing for the festival's top prize, the Palme d'Or.

The world's biggest film festival fell victim to the pandemic in 2020, and this year was still subject to social distancing rules.

Unlike previous festivals, the Cannes' film market will offer more than 500 in-person screenings in its five partner cities, including

. About 15 screenings of Cannes finalists will be held in the Beijing France Cultural Center from July 8 to 16.
