China, Sudan FMs agree to further boost bilateral ties

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Sudan counterpart Ibrahim Ghandour vowed Thursday to further boost bilateral ties.

"China will continue supporting Sudan's legitimate rights and reasonable concerns on the Darfur issue and would encourage more Chinese firms to do businesses in Sudan," said Wang during a meeting with Ghandour after the 7th ministerial conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum held Thursday in Doha.

Wang also noted that the bilateral ties between China and the Sudan have been promoted to a new level since the visit of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir to China last September.

During his trip to China, Bashir and Chinese President Xi Jinping made a joint statement on the establishment of a strategic partnership between the two countries.

Ghandour stressed Sudan's firm stance on the issue of South China Sea, backing China's legitimate rights in preserving territorial integrity and sovereignty.

He also appreciates China's long-term assistance to help boost the country's peace process and economic growth.

Under the theme of "Working together on the Belt and Road Initiative and deepening China-Arab strategic cooperation," this year's conference attracted around 200 representatives from China and Arab countries.
