Two dead bodies and three other injured people were taken to Sirte Ibn Sina Hospital late Tuesday, a hospital source said.

Rajeb Sarir Teriya and Mohammad Omar Abdo died of gunshot wounds sustained in armed clashes between two clans in the area of Giza Navy in Sirte, located 450 km east of Tripoli, the source said, adding that one of the wounded was in critical condition.

According to Fawazi Abu Zeid, head of Sirte Local Council, the situation in the city had returned to calm and a meeting between the two rival groups would soon be scheduled.

On Monday, a senior Libyan police officer was killed in Sirte, hometown of former Libyan ruler Muammar Gaddafi.
