Six militants killed, four cops injured in Pakistan's Karachi

At least six militants were killed and four cops injured in a targeted operation jointly launched by police and paramilitary troops in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi on Wednesday.

Police said that the city's Criminal Investigation Department ( CID) launched operation in Hub Road area on an intelligence tip- off, killing six militants and recovering huge cache of arms from them.

Four policemen were also injured in the exchange of firing with militants.

The bodies of the militants were shifted to the hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Police confirmed that they recovered a vehicle carrying a huge cache of explosive materials from the militants' compound.

Later police said that the killed militants belonged to banned outfit Tehrik-e-Taliban who wanted to launch a big attack in the city, however, their plan was foiled due to timely action by the police.
