While COVID-19 has forced many business to close, one U.S. pet care company decided to use its essential status to help local healthcare providers.

Brian Larsen, the Co-Founder and CEO of Restorapet, a liquid supplement for pets, decided to shift production from supplements to hand sanitizer. Which is then donated to healthcare workers in the state of Maryland.

Restorapet has 15 employees, with half of them working remotely because of the virus.

Since the company uses a large warehouse and most of the production is automated, Larson says it's easier for remaining employees to social distance.

The company also follows other COVID-19 health guidelines. Employees wear gloves, masks and have daily temperature checks.

Larson says, they are fortunate to be able to shift production and stay open during the pandemic, but not all business are able to do the same.

As businesses adapt to the pandemic, who is responsible for the safety of essential workers?
