Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin Marfori Andanar said he welcomes the opportune agreements between ASEAN and China regarding exchanges, cooperation and joint development in the media sector.
“It reaffirms the importance of the multi-faceted relations between ASEAN and China,” said Secretary Andanar in a statement datelined Bangkok, Thailand today.
He added the agreements will not only strengthen understanding and friendship between the countries involved as the year 2019 has been designation as ASEAN-China Year of Media Exchanges. He expressed optimism it will foster growth for each nation’s respective media industry through discussions, learning and collaborations.
The agreements involve communication on media policies and issues, cooperation on news coverage and materials and information dissemination to further strengthen synergy between China and the countries involved, media content cooperation through co-production of films, television series, documentaries and new media content.
Participation in film and television festivals of China and ASEAN countries are expected. It will also intensify cooperation in Research and Development in media technology and equipment production, encourage education and training through exchanges and workshops for media professionals from China and ASEAN countries.
Secretary Andanar said he hopes the agreements will begin deeper and more fruitful relations to further elevate the region’s media, nurture cultural understanding and uplift further the region’s enlightened populace.
