Senior official stresses alleviating poverty among women

Shen Yueyue, president of the All-China Women's Federation, called for efforts to lift impoverished women out of poverty.

Speaking at a teleconference on Friday, Shen required women's federations at all levels to support impoverished women in securing employment and promoting the business resumption in factories and workshops which have been suspended during the novel coronavirus outbreak.

Shen also called for the development of industries such as knitting, rural e-commerce and housekeeping to enable more women to shake off poverty.
