Yangon, April 13 (APD) - Traditional Water Festival of Myanmar (Thingyan Festival) are held to celebrate across the country in Myanmar cultural with opening ceremonies.
Myanmar’s Thingyan water festival, this year from April 13 to 16 and Myanmar’ New year will start from April 17. Most of Myanmar people believe their dirt of last year were cleaned by playing water splash in Thingyan Festival.
Myanmar historian assumed Thingyan Water Festival was held in Myanmar since Bagan Era, because there was many evidence about Water Festival and ‘King Nayathiha Patae’ who reign March 6, 1256 AD, played that ceremony.
At present in Myanmar, Water Festival held in Tanku(April) every year the most popular and greatest festival as of Myanmar’s New Year. Also Tanku (April) month is the sambols of Padauk and Ngu War Flower.

Water Festival is a happy event in all parts of Myanmar and all people are playing without border religious and ethnic opinion, all are same. There can see happy dancing Tourist in Water Festival.
There is people playing water but there is also so many people are contemplation in religion.
Long Long ago, Although people used “Tha Phay” flower and silver cup for playing, nowadays use modern technique by using water pipe, water gun with large Man Dat (Large Stage).
On Stage, young pretty girls and boys dance Myanma traditional dance and also modern dance such as DJ, Disco. There is also famous singers, actors and actress perform to public.
There is donation “Sa Tu Di Thar” which is various traditional foods. All Myanmar people did not splash water to pregnancy women, serving staffs and religious persons.

In Nay Pyi Daw, capital city of Myanmar aslo held water festival most and greatest.
Era of former President U Thein Sein, water festival held at Persident House with staff including higher officers.
This year, can hope, New elected president U Win Myint will aslo be held this event.
Also in Yangon, former capital city and the largest population in country, water festival will be held greatest.
Phyo Min Thein, yangon chief minister allowed economic stages in Yangon although did not permit last two years. In Yangon, there will be 95 stages according to Yangon City Development Committee.
For the first time, there will be walking Thangyan in Yangon Water Festival, which will held three places, Kandawgyi Lake, Mahabandula Park, Kan Taw Min Park. Distinction in Yangon Thingyan, Young Pank fancy boys are walking Bogyok Market to Maharbandula park, this year they did again April 11.
Cultural city of Myanmar, Mandalay which will plan unique for grate event. Last year, walking thangyan held first time in there, will make it again and aslo will make Wilderness Thangyan, which will express upcountry rural Night Market.
In Sagaing division, “Chin Twin Thingyan” opened beside Chin Twin River April 11 which led held by State government, which event was first time in division.
Sagaing Government used Myanmar kyats 2600 Lakh over for event and there will be Sand Sculpture Gallery and various traditional Gallery. There are no fees for entrance.
In Magway division and Taunggyi City, capital of Shan state, also will be walking Thangyan for first time.
Most cities of Myanmar are preparing for Thingyan to be greatest. Mawlamyaing city, capital of Mon State will be a little strange, there is splash water till Myanmar New Year day (April 17), although water festival finished since April 16 in whole country, which they called “Yoe Go Thin Gyan”in Mawlamyaing city.
For the Myanmar people, Water Festival is all inclusive event, there will be no different religion, ethnic, …ect. Rakhine People held their traditional water festival on April 12. Also for Shan People celebrated their traditional water festival on April 7, first time in Yangon. As for students, they aslo involved in this grate event, most of universities held School Water Festival before official event.
Preparing and Ready to celebrate
Most of Myanmar People are happy before festival, Government also preparing for security, Myanmar Police will increase measures in Division and State including Nay Pyi Daw, according Police announcement.
There are aslo notice for people from Health Ministry, they prepare to be ready Hospital if there be some unexpected accidents happen.
Anyway, Myanmar people are ready to celebrate.
