China's leading screen maker BOE Technology announced on Thursday its latest display screen production line -- the bendable AMOLED screens, breaking Samsung's monopoly in the area.

It can also produce a similar screen used in the upcoming iPhone X.

Located in southwestern China's Chengdu City, the line is already running to make screens for smartphone makers including Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO and Vivo. The projected volume is 70 million screens per year.

"We believe the market volume will increase more than 30 percent a year for the next three to five years," said BOE's CEO Chen Yanshun.

The stock price of BOE in China has doubled from last year.

AMOLED, or active-matrix organic light-emitting diode, is a display technology in competition with the traditional LCD one. It uses millions of nano-sized LED lights to form a screen.

Well-known products with AMOLED screens include Samsung S8, Note 8, Apple's iWatch and iPhone X.

"The display industry in China has changed from nothing to something in the previous years, and is now moving forward to a big thing," display expert Liang Xinqing told local TV.
