The African continent has so far recorded 3,630,721 infections according to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC).

According to the continental disease control and prevention agency's Africa COVID-19 dashboard, the death toll related to the pandemic stood at 93,702 as of Friday with 3,131,891 recoveries having been registered .

The Southern Africa region is the most affected area in Africa in terms of the number of confirmed positive cases, followed by the Northern Africa region, according to the agency.

The most affected African countries in terms of the number of positive cases include South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, and Ethiopia, said the Africa CDC.

South Africa has reported the highest COVID-19-inflicted deaths in Africa.
