ISLAMABAD -- Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan said here on Thursday that the government has decided to ease the COVID-19 lockdown starting from Saturday in the country, considering its impact on the economy.
Talking in a live televised public briefing along with cabinet members, the prime minister said he has approved the decision of easing the lockdown taken at a meeting of the National Coordination Committee, top body in the country's fight against COVID-19, which includes ministers, provincial chief ministers and military officials.

BANGKOK -- Thailand's Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration on Thursday said the government will review its lockdown relaxation measures on Friday before drafting the next round of easing disease control measures and reopening of big premises scheduled on May 17.
The second round of relaxation measures will involve the re-opening of big businesses catering to large numbers of people.

ACCRA -- Ghana is considering revising its standard testing that determines the recovery of COVID-19 patients, in order to decongest facilities, and ease pressure on testing laboratories, the Director-General for the Ghana Health Service Patrick Kuma-Aboagye said on Thursday.
Disclosing this during the regular media update on the status of Ghana's fight against the pandemic, Kuma-Aboagye said it had become necessary to review the process since the two negative tests Ghana uses had constraints due to congestion at the testing laboratories.

HANOI -- Vietnam's Ministry of Health on Thursday confirmed 17 more COVID-19 cases, bringing the total in the country to 288.
All the 17 cases were on a same flight from Dubai to Vietnam's southern city of Can Tho on May 3, according to the ministry.

MINSK -- Belarus reported 913 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, taking its total to 20,168, the country's health ministry has said.
