On Tuesday, Xi and South African President Jacob Zuma held talks and witnessed signing of cooperation deals.

After the meeting, Xi attends the fifth BRICS summit in the coastal city of Durban.

Xi's state visit aims at promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership established between the two countries in 2010.

China and South Africa established diplomatic relations 15 years ago.

Since then, bilateral ties have been on a fast-track development, with cooperation booming in the fields of trade, education, tourism and technology.

Bilateral trade reached nearly 60 billion U.S. dollars last year, accounting for nearly one-third of the total Sino-Africa trade flow.
