2 journalists killed after being hit by local leader's car in India

Two journalists were killed after being allegedly hit by a local leader's car in India's eastern state of Bihar, police said Monday.

The journalists working with vernacular press were run over by a village's head car in Bhojpur district, around 80 km west of Patna, the capital of Bihar.

"In tragic incident that took place yesterday night, two bike borne journalists were crushed to death after a speeding car hit them," a police official said.

The deceased were identified as Navin Nishchal and Vijay Singh. Nishchal was worked for a known local Hindi daily, Dainik Bhaskar, while as Singh was associated with another local media outlet.

According to locals the duo was on their way to Arrah town when the car hit them on Arrah-Sasaram highway.

Local media reports said the car was being driven by a local leader.
