The Office of Commissioner of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) on Tuesday urged some U.S. politicians to stop meddling with Hong Kong affairs, stressing that any actions attempting to mess up Hong Kong are doomed to fail.

Some U.S. congressmen continued to make unwarranted remarks on the Hong Kong police's legal action against Jimmy Lai Chee-ying, widely known as one of the "black hands" behind the months-long unrest in Hong Kong.

While expressing strong disapproval and firm opposition, a spokesman of the commissioner's office pointed out that the U.S. politicians were repeatedly interfering in the HKSAR's rule of law and judicial independence on the pretext of human rights and freedom.

The spokesman said the U.S. congressmen were lying through their teeth and trying to whitewash Jimmy Lai and others who had attempted to mess up Hong Kong, while slandering the HKSAR government and police whose actions are in strict accordance with the law.

The U.S. congressmen openly threatened to use the so-called Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act of 2019, which is a blatant interference in Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs, and is detrimental to Hong Kong's prosperity, stability and the rule of law, he said.

The spokesman said that Hong Kong is part of China and an SAR governed by the rule of law. The U.S. politicians' attempts to mess up Hong Kong are doomed to fail.
