The Sixth Asian Financial Forum (AFF) with the theme "Asia: shaping the next global landscape" will be held on 14-15 January at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. This year's forum will bring high-profile speakers including Guo Shuqing, chairman of China Securities Regulatory Commission and Lawrence H. Summers, former U.S. Treasury Secretary.

With lingering eurozone debt crisis and flagging economic growth in U.S. and Japan, this year's two-day financial summit will discuss economic growth opportunities in emerging markets including the BRICS and ASEAN countries as well as China. Benjamin Hung, AFF Steering Committee chairman, said at the press conference that over 50% of world economic growth will be derived from Asia in the next 20 years, and thus this year's forum will highlight Asia's fast-expanding role in the global economy.

Huang also said that Guo Shuqing, chairman of China Securities Regulatory Commission, is the first time to attend AFF, and he will discuss with participants China's financial reforms and opening-up. A new agenda for deepening reforms in China's financial system in the next five years was revealed in the report of the 18th National Congress of the CPC. It is expected that market-oriented interest rate and exchange-rate reforms, as well as capital account convertibility will be gradually realized.

This year’s forum will also feature panel discussions and workshops on issues related to business and investment opportunities in China, such as Chinese companies' global outreach, internationalization of RMB and the China-ASEAN business partnership. A workshop on investing in Myanmar, the latest hot investment destination among frontier markets, will also be held on the second day of the forum.

As with previous years, AFF 2013 will offer one-to-one meeting opportunities for investment project owners to find potential collaborators during the Deal Flow Matchmaking Session.

The AFF is organized annually by the Hong Kong SAR government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). Around 2000 business and government leaders around the world are expected to join this year's forum.
