The world's highest peak Mt Everest has recorded the first ascent of this spring season on Friday evening.

The first team of rope fixing climbers reached the summit at 6:00 pm local time, according to the Department of Tourism.

At least 12 Sherpas from Seven Summit Treks Company reached the summit under the management of Expedition Operators of Nepal (EOA).

This is also the first ascent to the top of the world's tallest mountain after 2019, as 2020 spring expeditions were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the rope fixing team reaching the top, this has opened the route for over 400 foreign climbers along with their high altitude workers.

This year, at least 408 foreign climbers have received the permit for Everest expeditions. The number is higher as of 2019, as the Chinese side has halted the expedition from its side.

Among the 12 members, Nepal's renowned climber Kami Rita Sherpa broke his own record by scaling the world's highest peak 25 times, Mingma Sherpa, head of Seven Summit, confirmed.

Kami Rita is the only man on the world with such maximum ascents of Everest, known as Sagarmatha in Nepali language.

Sherpa, made the 25th successful ascent as a leader of the rope fixing team, along with 11 other climbing Sherpas.

Besides Kami Rita, the other climbers who made it to the top today include Phurtenzi Sherpa, Lakpa Nurbu Sherpa, Ngima Tashi Sherpa, Mingma Tenji Sherpa, Fura Tshering Sherpa, Tenjing Sherpa, Chheten Dorjee Sherpa, Tenjing Gyaljen Sherpa, Phurba Chhotar Sherpa, Mingma Dorchi Sherpa and Furba Kusang Sherpa.
