Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is due to arrive in Nay Pyi Taw later on Tuesday to start a two-day state visit to Myanmar.

At the invitation of his Myanmar counterpart U Thein Sein, Susilo is to make the visit in return to U Thein Sein's visit to Jakarta in May 2011 on the sidelines of the 18th Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

During Susilo's visit, the two leaders will hold talks on promotion of the two countries' bilateral ties and economic cooperation and will endorse agreements on trade cooperation, human resources development and investment, according to local media.

U Thein Sein's Jakarta trip marked his first overseas visit soon after he became the president on March 30, 2011.

During his visit, U Thein Sein held comprehensive discussion with Susilo on strengthening and promotion of existing bilateral friendship and cooperation.

Susilo suggested promoting exchange of visits at all levels to maintain bilateral friendship, and expressed Indonesia's firm support for Myanmar's democratization process.

U Thein Sein appealed for promotion of investment in Myanmar's various sectors such as agriculture, mining, oil and gas as well as cooperation in the tourism sector.

In October 2011, Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa visited Myanmar and observed the country's readiness to chair ASEAN in 2014, saying that he saw significant development in the country.

In December 2011, Myanmar-Indonesia Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) met in Yangon highlighting political and security cooperation, economic cooperation and social and cultural cooperation.

Over the past year, Indonesian businessmen have been seeking cooperation with Myanmar entrepreneurs in various sectors.

In 2012, bilateral trade between Myanmar and Indonesia reached 391.08 million U.S. dollars, with Myanmar's export to Indonesia totaling 40.37 million dollars while its import from Indonesia valued at 350.71 million dollars.

Indonesia is Myanmar's fourth largest trading partner in ASEAN after Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia, statistics show.

Meanwhile, Myanmar and Indonesia have set target to increase bilateral trade to 1 billion U.S. dollars in 2016.

According to official statistics, Indonesia's investment in Myanmar amounted to 241.497 million U.S. dollars as of February 2013, ranking the 14th in Myanmar's foreign investment line-up.
