BANGKOK, Sep 13 (APD) -- Thailand's anti-graft agency on Wednesday said evidence is insufficient to conclude the ex-prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra is negligent in failing to to prevent great damages caused by the 2011 flooding.

Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit, chairman of the National Anti-Corruption Commission(NACC) told media that natural disasters are not predictable, while there was no evidence of Yingluck's malfeasance in the handling of the massive flooding.

"Yingluck has properly followed administrative steps in handling the floods, thus the NACC has passed a resolution to clear her allegation." said Watcharapol as quoted by local media.

Since 2016, the NACC has been investigating two former prime ministers, namely Yingluck and Ahbisit Vejjajiva to determine whether their governments were responsible for the flooding disaster in 2011.

The disastrous flooding in 2011 was blamed on alleged mismanagement of the country’s water supplies at different dams. Critics said the dams were holding too much water at a time when the country was hit by a series of rainstorms.

The disasters caused damaged estimated at more than 350 billion baht(about 10 billion U.S dollars), according to local media.

Yingluck has not made any comment on the resolution so far. She failed to show up on the court to hear the verdict over her loss-ridden rice pledging scheme on Aug 25 and has reportedly fled the country.
