China's assistant foreign minister Kong Xuanyou and Russian vice foreign minister Igor Morgulov met in Moscow on Monday to discuss the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

A day after the DPRK further increased tension in the region by test-firing another ballistic missile, Kong and Morgulov agreed to adhere to the goal of denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula, maintaining peace and stability and solving the issues through dialogue, according to Xinhua News Agency.

They also reiterated China and Russia’s opposition to deployment of the THAAD anti-missile system in South Korea.

Monday’s missile launch by the DPRK was the country's eighth missile test in 2017.
