on Sunday tweeted a clip from a recent speech by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to the Family Leadership Summit in Des Moines, Iowa.

The video footage highlighted Pompeo defending being labeled "the common enemy of mankind" by China's state media. However, most Twitter commenters refused to buy his argument.

"I am guessing that because President Trump and I are serious about this, that we are faced more from them," Pompeo laughed, adding that he believed the administration is doing the "right thing" for the American people.

Pompeo's words drew ridicule and sarcasm online. Comments in response to the clip included "no lies detected," "the Chinese state TV would be right then", "You are."

Zhang Heqing, cultural counselor of the Chinese embassy in Pakistan, also replied to the video. "The mankind needs solidarity and cooperation for the fight against the pandemic, not just to play the blame game, stigmatization, shirking responsibility, racial discrimination," Zhang tweeted.
