Hundreds of people gathered in Pretoria, South Africa over the weekend to watch aerobatic demonstrations and explore different aircraft on display at the Airlink Adrenaline Wonderboom Airport Show. Spectators and adrenaline junkies were treated to a variety of air, car and motorcycle stunts.

The Airlink Adrenaline Airport Show is only in its second year, but has already established itself as one of the “top” aviation shows in the country.

Christian Maiorana, organizer of the Airlink Adrenaline Show, said, “We are unique and we are different and we are giving spectators something different to see. The average airshow is mostly in the air but the fact that we mix aircraft with jet cars, with drift cars, with motorbikes and all sorts of other cars is what makes us unique in terms of Air shows in South Africa.”

For the first time the show combined planes, cars and motorcycle stunts in an adrenaline-filled line up.

“We are doing 43 acts today,” Maiorana added.

“It has never been done in the history in airshows in South Africa for the quantity of acts, and the type of acts, so for example the Fx jump has never been done at an airshow before, some of the jet formations have never been done at an airshow before, so the mix that we put together is what makes it unique.”

For the first time, the South African Air Force was a proud participant. They see the show as a launch pad to make the Air Force more accessible as a career.

“It adds a big value to us because it shows the public what the Airforce is capable of doing, ” a warrant officer of the South African Air Force told CGTN Africa.

“We have a Grippon that was flying with the Silver Falcons -- the public loved it and they have never seen it before so it was a very good thing for us and members of the public who [would] like to join the Air Force.”
