Kuwait hails China's progress in combating COVID-19: FM

Kuwait is pleased to see the progress in China's fight against COVID-19, believing that China is able to win a complete victory, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah said on Thursday.

He made the remarks at a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Li Minggang, during which they exchanged views on strengthening bilateral cooperation and jointly combating the disease.

On behalf of Kuwait's government, Sheikh Ahmad expressed its real happiness with and admiration for the achievements China has made in combating the spread of COVID-19.

"We have no doubt that China will win a complete victory over the disease," he said, pledging that Kuwait stands firmly with China and will provide necessary assistance.

Kuwait is willing to strengthen its cooperation with China and learn from China's experience to jointly tackle the challenges, he said.

Li briefed the minister on the latest developments in China's fight against the epidemic, saying that it is now under control in China, where the economic and social activities are gradually recovering.

"We have the confidence that we will win the final victory in the near future, and achieve the goals of social and economic development," the Chinese envoy said.

He expressed gratitude to the Kuwait's government and people for their sincere support to China in this fight, adding that China is willing to work with Kuwait to overcome the current difficulties and reduce the epidemic's impact on the bilateral ties and personnel exchanges.
