The Chinese Football Association (CFA) has appointed Fudan University Huashan Hospital's Vice President Ma Xin, director of the center of infectious diseases Dr Zhang Wenhong, and Medical Department director Wang Huiying as their consultants in restarting football games amid the pandemic. The CFA has drawn up a guideline with the help of the experts in the hope of resuming in July.

Dr Zhang who was known for his work leading Shanghai's COVID-19 clinical expert team said that the prevention guideline is a comprehensive system that will serve as fundamental support for resuming football games in China. He also added that, "China has done a great job in epidemic prevention and the overall environment is very safe. Strengthening closed-loop management under the premise of regular nucleic acid testing will help the league progress smoothly."

The CFA has reportedly applied a second time to restart football and is awaiting the government's approval. The first application was rejected because their competition system and schedule was not suitable for the current environment. The CFA adjusted their plan from a home-and-away system to a concentrated meeting system, at least for the beginning of the restart, and hopes their second application can be approved and football games can resume no later than the end of July.

According to the previous media reports, the CSL could start on July 11 under the tournament rules. Three potential host cities are Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Suzhou. All the matches will be played behind closed doors.
