A forest fire was put out in southwest China's Yunnan Province, local forest and grassland fire control headquarters said Friday.

The open flames have all been put out as of 11:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The fire started around 4:40 p.m. on Monday in the Biji Village in Binchuan County, spreading about 58 hectares.

More than 1,600 people were sent to put out the fire. Three helicopters and three fire engines were also mobilized.

No causalities were reported. The fire is likely to have been caused by the tomb-sweeping of a local villager. Further investigation is underway.
