Ali Akbar Velayati, a top adviser to Iran's supreme leader, has been quarantined after showing symptoms of the novel coronavirus, Tasnim news agency reported on Friday.
Velayati is also the head of Tehran's Masih Daneshvari Hospital where the patients with COVID-19 are treated.
On Thursday, the official showed symptoms of coronavirus and tested for the infectious disease and was quarantined at home.
According to the latest official reports, over 11,000 Iranians have contracted the coronavirus and hundreds have died. At least 25 Iranian officials, including the cabinet members, lawyers and health officials, are among the infected people.
