Rescue teams Wednesday resumed search for a plane with five people on board that disappeared around Tuesday noon over Brazil's Amazon jungle.
Search and rescue operations were suspended Tuesday due to bad weather, the Aeronautic Accidents Research and Prevention Center ( Cenipa) said.
The twin-engine Beechcraft BE 58 Baron, with three passengers, pilot and copilot on board, disappeared just past noon, an hour and 20 minutes after its last radio contact with a control tower.
The aircraft was taking three doctors from the National Indigenous Foundation from Itaituba to Jacareacanga, both cities in northern Para state, where they were to visit a village belonging to the Munduruku tribe.
A fearful and moving text message sent out by one passenger about poor weather conditions and mechanical failures has shed light on what happened to the plane before it lost contact.
"Uncle, I'm in a storm and one of the engines stopped. Tell mother I love all of you very much ... I'm scared, and panicked ... If I come through alright, I'll let you know ... pray for us. Don' t tell my aunt yet," local media quoted the message as saying.
