Warren endorses Biden for U.S. president

U.S. Senator and former Democratic presidential contender Elizabeth Warren said on Wednesday that she's endorsing former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden for the White House.

Warren, in a video posted on Twitter, said that "it's more important than ever that the next president restores Americans' faith in good, effective government."

"I've seen Joe Biden help our nation rebuild," said Warren, adding that she's proud to endorse Biden's presidential bid.

Warren, a progressive who withdrew from the Democratic primary race in March, is the lastest major former rival to endorse Biden, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee and a moderate political veteran.

It also came a day after former U.S. President Barack Obama announced his support for Biden's presidency.

Sitting President Donald Trump became the presumptive Republican presidential nominee in March.
