A whale was seen foraging on Tuesday in Dapeng New District, Shenzhen, south China's Guangdong Province.

The whale is an eight-meter-long Bryde's whale and it might be there by accident, according to Professor Chen Bingyao, an expert in cetacean studies from Nanjing Normal University.

It is the second time that Bryde's whales have been spotted in China's coastal waters in recent times. Previously, they were seen in Weizhou Island, Beihai City, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The local government has called on citizens not to get close to the whale nor feed it, and urged ships to make a detour and keep away from the area.
