A least eight people were injured in an explosion in the outskirt of Kuala Lumpur early Tuesday, which police said was not an terrorist attack, local media reported.

The explosion hit a bar where people were watching the Euro 2016 football match and was believed to be caused by a hand grenade. Police said the case was being investigated as an attempted murder instead of an act of terror.

At least five were sent to hospital for treatment, police said.

A consular officer of the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia confirmed to Xinhua that one of the wounded was a Chinese national, and had been hospitalized after the explosion.
