The global drive to find a COVID-19 vaccine is unlike any scientific effort in recent memory. But, given the enormous toll the virus continues to take, is the search going fast enough? One controversial approach, known as "challenge trials," will soon be employed in Britain and it's on the back-burner here in the U.S.
